Irish Soda Farls

Our Irish Soda Farls Recipe is a soda bread dough that’s flattened into a round circle, and divided into farls, meaning 4 parts. It is also referred to as Irish Griddle Bread because it’s cooked on a dry griddle or pan lightly sprinkled with flour.

Traditionally, this was the quickest way to make soda bread for unexpected guests who drop by for a bit of craic (good fun). It’s best eaten fresh with butter and jam.

Irish Mushroom Melt

Irish Mushroom Melt is made even more amazing with two kinds of cheese–Dubliner Irish Cheese and Mushroom Brie combined with a saute of mushrooms and onion. AND THEN we add Irish Horseradish! Ohhhhh baby.

The food in Ireland can vary from hearty-comfort food to fresh from the sea dishes! 12 Irish Recipes; Savory & Sweet

• Soups of all types, seafood, and meats also play important roles in the Irish diet.

• Irish soups are thick, hearty, and filling, with potatoes, seafood, and various meats being common ingredients.

• Since their country is surrounded by water, the Irish enjoy many types of seafood, including salmon, scallops, lobster, mussels, and oysters. However, meat is eaten more frequently at Irish meals.

• The most common meats are beef, lamb, and pork. A typical Irish dinner consists of potatoes (cooked whole), cabbage, and meat.

Irish Bangers and Mash with Brown Gravy

Bangers and Mash with Brown Gravy Recipe is a traditional Irish dish that’ll whisk you away to Ireland with every bite! Sooooo, I have a confession! I don’t really eat much pork… I just prefer leaner types of protein, so my bangers are made with chicken and they were delicious!!

We have a local store here that makes several different varieties of sausages and brats with chicken and spices. The ones in our Bangers and Mash with Brown Gravy are the chicken garlic variety, but if you prefer the traditional Irish pork brat, then this recipe works exactly the same!

Irish Coffee with Baileys and Kahlua

Our Irish Coffee with Baileys and Kahlua Recipe is a wonderful beverage to accompany any brunch or dessert! It’s lovely as a serve alone beverage, too. I mean how can you wrong with a Baileys and Kahlua coffee?!

It’s simply a match made in heaven. Unless you like more of the traditional Irish coffee baileys all by itself, then just omit the kahlua in the recipe. Either way, you can’t help but completely adore it!

Irish Cheddar, Ham, and Chive Scones Recipe

We are raving over these savory scones! In Ireland, you can find all kinds of varieties of scones, savory and sweet in the stores and bakeries. I decided to combine Kerry Gold Dublin Cheddar Cheese, ham, and chives to make the perfect savory scone!

Staples in the Irish Diet and in our 12 Irish Recipes; Savory & Sweet

• The staples of the Irish diet have traditionally been potatoes, grains (especially oats), and dairy products.

• Potatoes still appear at most Irish meals, with potato scones, similar to biscuits or muffins, a specialty in the north.

• The Irish have also been accomplished cheesemakers for centuries.

• Ireland makes about fifty types of homemade “farmhouse” cheeses, which are considered delicacies.

Guinness Beef and Potato Stew Recipe

As I’m sure you know, Ireland is famous for it’s hearty meals, most of which include in it.. somewhere.. some kind of cooked potato! You’ll find them french fried, hashed, and even scalloped. I’m a fan of potatoes since I was born in Idaho, which is almost as famous for their love and farming of them!

All I have to say is Guinness Beef and Potato Stew will hit the spot! Especially in the winter when we all love a bowl of warm and cozy stew. It’s loaded with lots of potatoes, carrots, beef (or veal) all lovely in a beef broth and tomato base!

Irish Cream Bundt Cake

Irish Cream Bundt Cake is a moist and flavorful cake that’s simple to make because it starts from a cake mix, AND then we add in a few fabulous ingredients plus a quick cook frosting to top it off just right! Irish Cream Bundt Cake is a decadent vanilla cake with vanilla pudding and Irish cream liqueur.

It’s also lovely finished off with a dollop of freshly whipped cream. I love the bundt cake shape, it adds a little bit of fancy flair compared to the regular ole’ rectangle shaped cake.

Irish Spicy Reuben Sandwich

Irish Spicy Reuben Sandwich is made with the beef from Irish Corned Beef and Cabbage ! Again, we love two meals in one!! Irish Spicy Reuben Sandwich is made with caramelized onions, sauerkraut, thinly sliced pickles, marbled rye bread, and oh man… the sauce!!

That sauce is going to wow your tastes buds!

Is the Reuben Sandwich really Irish? 12 Irish Recipes; Savory & Sweet

It’s a bit of a mystery actually, but the one thing that seems to be agreed upon is that it is US born. Some claim it came from Oklahoma, while others say it was a New York City invention!

The one thing that is plainly clear is that the Reuben sandwich actually brings together Irish corned beef, Jewish rye, German sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing. The other pretty obvious fact about the Reuben is it’s enjoyed all around the world and a longtime favorite of many. I’m a big fan of them myself!!

Irish Creme de Menthe co*cktail

Our Irish Creme de Menthe co*cktail Recipe is a spin off of a Irish Holiday beverage calledConnolly’s Irish Connection. Since I happen to be Irish, and my mothers maiden name is Connolly, I figured this drink just had to be made.
