STEELE Boardroom Update: The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago Board of Commissioners awarded a $20.8 million contract for the Flood Control Project on Midlothian Creek in Robbins, Illinois.• Phase 1: Removed flood insurance requirements for 94 homes by creating a diversion channel.• Phase 2: Will reduce flooding and create a park-like wetland area, providing both flood control and greenspace.The project will increase stormwater protection from a 5-year to a 100-year storm level, removing 140 acres from the floodplain and protecting 92 structures. A $1.5 million IEPA grant will fund bioswales and a rain garden to reduce stormwater runoff. #PeaceLoveCleanWater ✌🏾❤️💧
