Gamazda is a Russian pianist and youtuber who rocks the internet with her amazing covers of Rock and Metal songs. When you hear “Rock” or “Metal” you imagine a guitar, or maybe drums. However, Gamazda made her piano an icon in Rock and Metal covers with her skills, passion, and talent.
We had the pleasure to chat with Gamazda and ask her about her thoughts, her relationship with her instrument, and many other things.
Interview
Hello Gamazda. I’m very happy to chat with you. How are you doing? |
Hello! I’m doing well! Thank you for inviting me to the interview. |
You are so close to hitting half a million subscribers on your YouTube channel and you have millions of views on your videos. How do you feel about all the success your work has made so far? |
When I started my YouTube channel, I didn’t even expect that I’d get this result. I thought I’ll play songs that I like and maybe someone like my covers and it will be a small place for like-minded people. And it was a big surprise to me when a lot of people have started supporting me and when such big bands like Red Hot Chili Papers, Tool, Papa Roach gave great feedback about my covers. It’s all still unbelievable to me! |
Well deserved! In your videos we can see from your body language and the way you play how much you have mastered the piano and also how much you enjoy and love playing it. How did this unique relationship you have with the piano begin? |
I’ve been playing piano since I was 3 years old. My parents are also musicians and they brought me into music. This all has started in deep childhood. |
You put a huge effort on your covers to make your own arrangements that best suit your style, and you’re very talented at that. Do you plan on ever using your talent to release an original work? |
Thank you! To be honest I don’t plan to create original songs in the near future. I’ve learned to play songs and not create them. I think it’s a totally different direction and profession. |
In order to get our readers to know you from a different perspective, how about we play a game? I will ask you questions about certain scenarios in alternate universes where something is tweaked, and you will have to react. Ready? |
Sounds interesting. I’m ready. |
In a universe where music is illegal, and you are sentenced to spend in jail a number of years equal to the number of music albums that you own at home, how many years would be in jail for? |
I will have freedom, because I don’t have physical albums. All the music that I listen to is online. |
In a universe where the currency is the person’s sense of humor, how rich would you be? |
In this universe I would think that I’m the richest person, while in reality I would be homeless, because sometimes I only laugh at my jokes. |
In a universe where a zombie apocalypse occurred, which band would you rather be stuck in a closed city with fighting off zombies? |
Recently I finished watching Walking Dead. Great TV Serial btw. And one of the most scary and bad characters was a famous rock star. So, after that I would prefer to be stuck with people who are not from music. |
In a universe where you are the producer of an action series, and you were asked to pick a powerful Rock or Metal song as the theme song, which song would you pick? |
It’s too difficult to choose only one song, but okay. I choose Disturbed – Down With The Sickness. |
Thank you for playing, Gamazda! Aside from music, what other interests do you have and do you have any fun activities you like to do? |
I really like to travel, but unfortunately it’s impossible now. Besides that I like TV Series, some video games like Heroes Might and Magic and I like real activity, work out, hiking, swimming. |
Even though we’re in 2021, sexism still exists all around the world. How would you face sexism if you were treated with discrimination, and what advice would you give to young girls who deal with sexism on a daily basis? |
To be honest I’m probably a lucky person, because I’ve never encountered sexism in my life. So, I don’t have any experience in order to give anyone any advice. |
That’s lucky indeed! Thank you for the interview, Gamazda! It was a pleasure! |
Thank you for your questions! |

What a stupid question to ask her in regards to sexism and racism. What is wrong with you people?
I loved the way she shut you down with her response! 😂😂
Made you look like an absolute fool! Why must you always look for a problem when it doesn’t exist? You a twisted “lefty”. I can tell. 😂
Hopefully, we get a “real” interview with her someday, rather than your nonsense!Reply

Shut me up? Probably you should go back to school and learn how to read all over again. She considered herself “lucky” not to have encountered sexism. And that is a very true statement. 9 out of 10 times that I’ve asked this question, my interviewees reply that they have indeed encountered sexism and some would have a story to share. So this problem that “doesn’t exist” is more real than your intellectual abilities. I can tell you’re a misogynist prick. And I am sorry that my real question bothered your animalistic chain of thoughts and touched you right on your insecurities it made you bother commenting, but hey, thanks for the view and interaction. Have a lovely day, cunt.

That’s something a misogynist neo-nazi would say.

Lol. That was a little strange (coming from a fellow lefty). I have spent hundred’s of hours listening to Gamazda with headphones and my eye’s closed but I also think she is the prettiest person on the planet. I will always be hesitant to reveal that nowadays because of people like you. I can only imagine if you interviewed a black person. 95% of the interview would be about victimization……

This interview has 11 questions, 10 if you do not count the “how are you doing” one, out of which 1 is about a social issue that is sexism. Now if you’re so pissed about this 1 question, then you are either:
1. An idiot who doesn’t believe sexism exists.
2. An idiot who got offended by the question due to being sexist himself.
Moreover, reading an interview article on a feminist Rock and Metal website and expecting no mention of sexism would be as idiotic as reporting a video on a porn website for sexual content. Please note that being a “lefty” or a “righty” has nothing to do with that. There are sexists, racists, and homophobes in every political wing, who would moan about one question related to a social issue, and then there are decent people.

As a musician myself, I can say there’s a huge difference between a male fan telling me I’m beautiful after a show, and a dude screaming out loud: “what’s your number, sweetheart” or “show more tits” while I’m playing on stage. First is totally acceptable and the second is sexist. The problem is not with people asking about sexism. The problem is with people like you trying to shut people up when they mention the subject. The only reason one would do that is being sexist himself.

I did like the question about her original work (or lack thereof). I had no idea and have always wondered that. I’m a metal head so I think she is the best pianist of my generation and it was a good interview (didn’t mean to be so harsh with the above comment)

Thank you. And don’t worry about being harsh. I do not hold back either.
