The Datto Engineering team would like to formally invite you to our closed beta for DWA 3.0!
Our backup agent software team has been hard at work developing the next generation of Datto Windows Agent, and we have a version we are excited to get some partner hands on.
DWA 3.0 represents a significant paradigm shift, we have re-architected the driver and user space interaction which allows for some exciting benefits.
- We have built astronger relationship with VSS(Volume Shadow Copy Service) which is critical toensuring operating system stability.
- Our driver stack is simplified leading toless risk when upgrading.
- DWA 3.0can now operate without a driverinstalled/loaded, but can only perform differential merge backups in this case.
- DWA 3.0 has anadditional fallback mechanismto take a backup with no VSS writers involved, this backup would be crash consistent.
- Weno longer require a CoW(copy on write) file for each volume to track changes, saving your drive space, eliminating the need for a minimum of 10 Gb or 10% of free space on each protected volume.

Datto, Inc. – Backup Agent Pre-Release Terms
Thank you for agreeing to participate in the Datto Pre- Release/Beta Program to test and evaluate pre-release Backup Agent software (“Beta Product”). In order to participate in the Beta Program you must agree to these Pre-Release Terms, which form an agreement between you and Datto, Inc. or one of its subsidiaries (“we” or “us”). Your use of the Beta Product is also subject to the Datto Partner Agreement and the Datto Product Terms of Use, as applicable, except as modified by these Pre-Release Terms.These Pre-Release Terms apply to any pre-release software so designated by us, regardless of whether the specific words “Beta Product” or “Beta Program” or some other like designation are used.
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the Beta Product you represent that you are authorized to act on behalf of the company or other legal entity that is participating in the Datto Beta Program and hereby agree to these Pre-Release Terms and the Datto Partner Agreement and BCDR Product Terms of Use.
You will have the non-exclusive, non-transferable limited right to access and use the Beta Product during the Beta Program free of charge for your internal evaluation and testing purposes only. You may not use the Beta Product in a production environment for your own use or the use of any other party. You may not sell, loan, transfer or encumber the Beta Product provided to you for use during the Beta Program.
All information relating to use and performance of the Beta Product will be deemed “Confidential Information.” You may not copy, modify, or reverse engineer the Beta Product or any Confidential Information nor may you use the Beta Product or any Confidential Information for any purpose other than as expressly authorized by us. You expressly agree that you will not use the Beta Product or any Confidential Information to develop, manufacture, market, sell, or distribute any product or service. You may not disclose any Confidential Information to any third party.
You agree to provide us with timely comments, suggestions, error or deficiency reports and other feedback to assist in future development and improvement of the Beta Product. We may also collect and evaluate certain usage and performance information regarding your use of the Beta Product. You agree that we may collect and use all such feedback and information freely for any purpose and without any compensation to you.
You acknowledge that the Beta Product is not yet fully tested for use in a production environment and its operation may be unpredictable and lead to erroneous results. You may not resell to, transfer to, or authorize any other party to use the Beta Product. You agree the Beta Product (I) has not been fully tested; (ii) may not meet your requirements; (iii) use or operation may not be uninterrupted or error free and is for purposes of evaluating and testing the product and providing feedback to us.
THE BETA PRODUCT IS PROVIDED “AS-IS” AND “AS-AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. YOU EXPRESSLY AGREE THAT YOUR USE OF THE BETA PRODUCT AND YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE BETA PROGRAM IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. You hereby waive your right to make any and all claims, now known or later discovered, that you may have against us and our suppliers and licensors arising out of your use of the Beta Product.
These Pre-Release Terms will apply to you at the earliest of when you agree below or when you download, install or access the Beta Product and will remain in effect throughout the Beta Program for this Beta Product until commercial release or earlier termination. We may terminate the Beta Program at any time, and both you and we may terminate your participation in the Beta Program at any time, in each case by providing written or email notice to the other party. Following termination for any reason, you must 1) discontinue all use of the Beta Product; and 2) delete or destroy any Confidential Information and otherwise comply with any other directions we provide.
If upon any commercial release of the Backup Agent software that was subject to these Pre-Release Terms, the Backup Agent software is automatically updated and installed on a Machine, any continued use or access to the Backup Agent software will be governed by and You expressly agree to the DATTO BACKUP AGENT SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT presented at the time of initial software download or install.
